PRE MORTEM – Anti Aging for artists
Vom 23.–25. Juni 2017 laden die feministische Plattform CALL und die
Künstlerhäuser Worpswede gemeinsam zur dreitägigen Convention „PRE
MORTEM – Anti Aging for artists“ auf das Gelände der Martin Kausche Ateliers.
An dem geschichtsträchtigen Ort der ehemaligen Künstlerkolonie Worpswede werden in gemeinsamen Workshops, Lectures, Experiences, Performances und Filmscreenings die Themen Altern und Tod im Kontext von Kunst und Feminismus verhandelt. „PRE MORTEM“ bezieht sich auf die Zeit unserer physischen Existenz in dieser Welt. In der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung, sowie in der Kunstgeschichtsschreibung und ihren Wertungssystemen gewinnt die Unausweichlichkeit des Todes und die Auseinandersetzung damit, insbesondere angesichts der Digitalisierung aller Lebensbereiche, an Relevanz: fundamentale technologische Wandlungen schüren die Hoffnung, eingefahrene gesellschaftliche Strukturen und nicht zuletzt den Tod zu überwinden. Auch „PRE MORTEM“ spielt darauf an, dass der Feminismus mit seinen bisherigen Zielen selbst kurz vor dem Sterben zu sein scheint, ob durch prominente und vielgestaltige Vereinnahmung oder auch durch einen antifeministischen Backlash. Neben zahlreichen Toden erlebt der Feminismus aber auch stetige Revivals: Totgesagte leben länger.
Die Convention ist für CALL ein zeitgemässes Format, auf der sich das Verständnis von Akteur/innen und Publikum, von Aktivität und Passivität aufweichen lässt und zahlreiche kleinere Präsentationen, spontane Performances und vielgestaltige Beiträge ermöglicht werden.
In den Worpsweder Martin-Kausche-Ateliers kommen immer wieder
Künstler/innen, Forscher/innen, Handwerker/innen und Aktivist/innen
unterschiedlichster Disziplinen zusammen. Workshops und Symposien
bringen die einzelnen Ideen in einen Austausch, Akademien und Gruppen
gehen ihren eigenen Projekten nach – so auch mit „PRE MORTEM – Anti Aging for artists.
Leben, Gesundheit, (Anti-)Altern, Tod und kulturelles Erbe – mit zukunftsweisenden Ideen, politischen Utopien und körperlicher Pflege widmet sich CALL auf der feministischen Convention „PRE MORTEM – Anti Aging for artists“ diesen Themen.
PRE MORTEM – Anti Aging for artists
From 23–25 June 2017, the feminist platform CALL together with the
artist residency Künstlerhäuser Worpswede invite you to the convention
“PRE MORTEM – Anti Aging for artists” on the compounds of the Martin Kausche studios.
In the former artist colony of the historical town Worpswede, the topics of aging and death will be discussed in the context of art and feminism through workshops, lectures, experiments, performances and film screenings.
“PRE MORTEM” refers to the time of our physical existence in this world. The inevitability of death and the confrontation with it, in particular with regard to the digitization of all spheres of life, is gaining in relevance, in the artistic debate, as well as in art historiography and its valuation systems. Fundamental technological changes give rise to hopes of dissolving entrenched societal structures and, last but not least, death itself. “PRE MORTEM” also refers to the fact that feminism, with its hitherto existing aims, seems to be on the verge of dying, either, be it by prominent and manifold absorption or by an anti-feminist backlash. But may it have died numerous times, feminism is also experiencing constant revivals: Thereʻs life in the old dog yet!
CALL considers this convention a contemporary format that softens the understanding of actor and audience, of activity and passivity, and allows for numerous smaller presentations, spontaneous performances and a variety of contributions. Workshops and symposia bring individual ideas into an exchange, with other academics and groups, each following their own projects. Life, health, (anti-) aging, death and cultural heritage – with forward-looking ideas, political utopias and physical care, we address these topics at the feminist convention “PRE MORTEM – Anti Aging for artists ”.
